Overview
We are The McDowell Robotics Team 63 from Erie, Pennsylvania consisting of students from grades 9-12 of McDowell High School. We are proud to announce that 2012 is our 16th anniversary for participating in FIRST and we couldn't be happier.
The purpose of McDowell Robotics is to promote science, technology, and engineering to students and children, introducing to them the science of robotics at an early age or in high school. McDowell Robotics has started many Lego League Teams and currently assists them in order to promote science to younger kids.
We also participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition annually. Within this competition, McDowell Robotics will meet the rules and guidelines as well as accomplish the goals which are set by FIRST. However, there is much more to robotics than what meets the eye. That's right, it is not all about the robot. The FIRST Robotics Competition also contains the Chairman's award. This prestigious award is given to the team that represents the values of FIRST in the best way possible, especially "Gracious Professionalism." FIRST also gives out awards for the website, innovation, safety, business, as well as just being pleasant and helpful to other teams participating in the competition.
